This seller has a lot of banknotes damaged by a fanciful stamps.

SAD! Always some "nut-job" out there trying to exploit the masses with otherwise good notes doctored to appear like something special for a premium.

Thanks for sharing.

Also... *cough* citygroundhero-6 *cough*

Sells many notes with fake overprints. Also, if an unaltered note sells too low, its "lost" in the post.

I suppose that there are more fakes around than original stamped issues. Especially stamped Swastikas are popular among ingenuous collectors abroad.

You can buy rubber stamps elsewhere with WWII referneces. So, you can easily stamp your own notes.

That's why I generally do not buy stamped banknotes related to WWII

While there are some genuine WWII notes that have stamps applied to them like German military notes in Greece, the fakers (with one exception) have yet to figure this out.

Remember that the majority are not overprinted with a stamp. Those that are stamped are generally rectangular functional stamps (with descriptions) not fancy symbols.

About 10-15 years ago, we had a few unscrupulous sellers stamping our cheap 1967 Centennial $1 notes (gold maple leafs) & then again our 1986 $2 with polar bears. People (noobs) were paying double or triple what the note would have been worth. I had heard that similar scams had hit the US market so beware folks.

This is currently on ebay with 11 bids, as a "US Army" overprint...

And this...

I've noticed the seller now rarely makes any claims for these spurious overprints
