Three Cent Pieces Made Sense, Sorta (1883 III Cent PCGS) .

pristine2 Pillar of the Community United States 1048 Posts	Posted 12/10/2021 07:14 am Virtually everyone wrote letters in those days. And postage on a 1/2-ounce letter cost 3c. Until it didn't. In 1883, the Post Office reduced the cost of a letter to Two Cents. Even before that, the idea of a three-cent piece, objectively speaking, was kinda stupid.
