When I was finishing up my research on any possible doubled dies for the 2008 small cent I came across a few different minor varieties, as some may know from my past 2008 post.

I was going to add this one to that post but I did not want to revive an old thread with a different variety.

Anyway, on the 2008 small cent obverse, the queen typically has 33 beads on her necklace, however, I have found 3 rolls so far and still counting that have the last bead missing as shown in the photo.

I must note, I use the word variety loosely as I don't think it was an intentional change of any sort, could be as simple as a missing bead on the working hub (raised) which would be missing on the working die (incuse), The possibility of this just simply being a plugged bead or over-polishing does not seem too likely given the lack of "progression" when examining examples of either one.

I have found these not only in BU rolls but also from circulated rolls so I do know that both can be found in the wild.

Since they are somewhat minor I only went as far as confirming if they could be obtained through circulated rolls and not just from the batch of BU rolls I had.
Finding and discovering modern Canadian doubled die varieties since 2018.

This is very cool! I'll add it to my notes and start the hunt.

Is this due to die polishing? I noticed that the 33 beads are larger in size compared to the 32 beads.

Thanks oldmike, you can see beads getting smaller untill the smallest beads are basically no longer existent in the later die state.

Edit the last photo looks like it's almost down to only 30 beads.
