Is there a reason we can't edit our own "What Our Members Collect" entries? Seems like having that made self-service would cut down on moderator efforts.

I get that it's probably a very trivial section of the site (heck, I only check it out for the Secret Santa season) and that it might not be worth any development effort.

Just curious.

I think the problem here is the same as the reason why we don't let people pick their own usernames or avatars, unvetted: people are people, and can't be trusted to be 100% family-friendly, all the time. We also want to avoid the page filling up with spam, sales pitches and links to personal websites. So, since the page is going to need careful monitoring anyway...

I understand, Sap. It would be one extra thing to monitor, I guess. But this site is already heavily monitored from top to bottom. Also I'm pretty sure plenty of users here will be the citizens' police and report quickly if anything looks offensive or in violation of terms.

Maybe make it easier to submit/request new profiles or changes (and approve from the Mod side)? Add a link to submit from user profile perhaps? It's just not very user-friendly as it stands. I have several email addresses. Not sure which one I signed up for CCF with a decade ago.

Maybe allow folks with a certain post count (500, 1000, 2000?) to modify their own and if they cross a line it's a paddlin' (or whatever)?

Also, again, I realize it is a very very small part of the site and likely not worth the effort.

It's just something that comes to mind every year when Secret Santa rolls around and I realize I can't update my "what I collect" by myself.
Rest in Peace

what we collected 10 years ago may be totally different from what we collect today .
