1983 D Dime - Could This Be An RPM? - Bunny Ears On 3 In Date

Hi All.

This dime appears to have a lot of Die Deterioration.

I wondered if it had an RPM but there is no listing similar to this one so it is probably just DDD / PMD but still have to ask....

However, the 3 in the date looks like it has bunny ears. Do not think it is PMD since the top of the 3 is split like a V but cannot say for sure how it might have occurred.

Input welcome and appreciated.

Looks like damage on both counts.
"Bunny Ears" cannot happen during the striking of a coin unless it is
on the die in which every coin struck with that die would have them on it.

Thank you JimmyD, appreciate your help. I wondered if there was a die break that caused the "Bunny Ears". The RPM was a shot in the dark...

Looks like DDD and a damaged mint mark punch.

To me I see maybe slight Grease Filled Die on the 8 and 3 causing them to be tapered and wider looking. Maybe combined with some circulation damage.

Damaged mintmark, caused most likely from a circulation hit.
