These are 2 pictures of the same area on a Canadian nickel dollar, the front waterline area of the canoe. In comparing the two pictures you can see the first 1[a little bluey] is normal and the second picture has a direct deflective light shining on the coin at about a 20 degree angle. The light is a variable light so I can control its glare. When you do this it highlights the high spots much brighter and brings theme out more but leaving the low spots normal.Question? Which picture do you like better?OPINONS please.

Your second picture shows much more depth. very nice. The white balance/color still seems a bit off though. Do some searching for posts by a fellow member here named learjet. You will see some fantastic photos using reflections off of walls and ceilings with something as simple as an LED flashlight.

Judging from the work you've already posted, I would suggest that you've already got a pretty good head start.

Chadcoins, I lack a huge amout of experience, but altho I like both pictures, my thinking is the light angle in the second is a bit too low, and could be diffused a bit more. I would ask Superdave, or Kurt. Both do excellent work.
