Maybe a little tired at the end of the day or new employee. Something made them polish the heck out of this Lincoln. I had never run across this in my infant collecting career. coin in hand looks worse than picture. Have any of you seen this before?

Well I dunno about lazy, but I happen to think that broken post in the number 9 is pretty cool. I also like the die polishing lines in front of Abe. Perhaps this was to smooth out a previous clash?

Am I seeing things because iot looks like the northwest corner of the O is polished completely off. The bottom of p at top and top part of E in cent. Most of the A,M AND E in America. It seems the B in liberty is smoothed down. The skull looks less detailed to the naked eye. I guess the camera brought up more detail? The color is beautiful. It's the digital microscope that doesn't represent the color correctly. This is with all my pictures.

Ok yes I see what you are describing. In these pics, there is a bit of glare there too. Maybe diffuse your light a bit?

On the reverse, I think that it is a weak strike, we see that quite often with the 'O' in ONE ans most of the metal goes to form the shoulder of Abe. Same can be said for the 'AME' of America to fill Lincoln's head. Those 2 areas take up a lot of metal to form due to the high relief of the die. (the shoulder and head are engraved a bit more deeply.)
Here is an example just posted today: http://goccf.com/t/413224

However I'm not sure what the scrape mark is on the bottom of the reverse.

The 'B' on the obverse looks flattened and fatter. Maybe due to a partially filled by grease?

An interesting coin, that's for sure. It is kind of hard to see how polished off the surfaces are from those pics.
