Someone recently asked about what would be an unusual date for a tapered planchet. Well, here is one answer. This one is a half-decent semi-key date, showing some woody effect, on a tapered planchet.

That's a nice one, a combo of collectibility. Nice find!

@ "tropicalbats"

I like the topic because the most complete definition we find is on error-ref.com.

I never speak with them or some-one from them (I will liked)

They stipule that the begin of the roll is tapered which is not true. The begin and the end of the roll it is. They said was give to them this explanation, but the reality is a little bit different, because the both side are tapered.

Also the begin and the ends of the roll is more expose to ex-foliations and cracked planchet, which I thing in my opinion must be put together.

Nice find TB. I like tapered coins, but know I'm in the minority.

Thanks folks! I was out all day yesterday buying one big giant huge lot of Lincolns so just getting caught up with things.

Dearborn, yeah, I used the phrase "woody effect" which really isn't a term, but the coin certainly shows as a mild woody. Even those shiny spots on the obverse aren't cleaning shines but from a more brassy allow in those areas.
