The 1938 is a not a rare coin, but it is a rare opportunity for us lower budget collectors to snag a high grade coin and feel like we have something special. As this was the last year of production, it was saved in masses of rolls and bags. My advice is to take your time, and wait until something that really pops in terms of strike, luster, color, and $ comes your way. Be patient and maybe you can score a deal on a 66+ or CAC. Search around to score yourself a beauty you have ZERO hesitations or questions about and let it be a highlight of your collection. Maybe you'd like something with a little more luster or golden tone or even rainbow tone. Maybe you'd like the nuance of the D/D or D/S variety. You have options here that won't break the bank! Any coin show you wander into will have a couple dozen available, I am sure any day on
ebay has a couple dozen too. Treat yo'self!
I'd put this in the 65-66 range. It's in MS 67+ these finally start getting notably more challenging and expensive.
