Hello everyone,
It had been a while since the last time I was here.... many things happened and and was out of touch from this communicy (I missed out on all those exchanges, give away, trading, and especially the "Secret Santa". I hope everyone are doing great.
Now, here's my question: What do we know about the new penny (Lincoln 1 cent coin) that supposed to release this year (4 versions total). I asked BoA & WaMu and they know nothing about it.... Also, who are planning to make a year type of the penny?
Take care & enjoy collecting.

The rumors I Hear are that, they are doing 4 releases with the 1st being on Lincolns Birthday. The 4 releases for public use are supposed to be Zinc with the proof sets and mint sets being Copper. The way I read the law they could put zinc in proof and mint sets, and release a special 4 coin set made from copper.

The release date from everything I have read in going to be on Feb. 12. This will be the release of the first of the series Birth and early Childhood in Kentucky. And they are also releasing the Lincoln comm. dollar on this date. Here is the link http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs...nny&Aspect=1

It would seem that the copper coins will be in mint and proof sets "the Secretary of the Treasury shall mint and issue numismatic one-cent coins in 2009 with the exact metallic content as contained in the 1909 one-cent coin (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc). These numismatic versions will be included in the United States Mint's annual product offerings" Quoted From http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs...gn/index.cfm

Quote: That's ok,they don't know how to run a banking system either...into the ground! If they minted these Lincolns, their books would say they made 5 billion, but would only find a couple rolls in their vault.

Quote: These numismatic versions will be included in the United States Mint's annual product offerings" That can mean in the mint and proof sets, and it can also mean any other special set they decide to produce.

I wonder how long it will be after they come out that the banks will start carrying them? I hate having to wait but I don't want to pay the extra price to get them from the mint.
