How-To-Determine-If-A-Lincoln-Cent-Is-EDS-1960-D

In addition to grading a coin, I am fascinated with the die state. I have read everything I could find on the subject but there are subtle signs that I can't pick up on. I think this coin would be an EDS at least the obverse, but heck it may be LDS? Help me find clues.

VarietyVista uses the term stage while CopperCoins uses the term die state and there is a subtle difference between the two terms, but I don't remember right now.

One thing I know about EDS is that you will see a lack of die-flow lines [as represented by the green arrows in this pic] -- The more you see, the older the die. I believe the EDS tend to be fairly smooth.

Thanks old buddy, I thought these were die polishing marks all the time. That helps

You bet. Die scratches [polishing marks] are not the same as die flow lines.
