Got these today from bank branch deposits. Four $1 dollar silver certificates with sequential serial numbers (missing the 64). Unfortunately they have suffered extreme damage and possibly have been burned. But as stated in other posts, this collection is going to be about what I find through circulation in my job as a currency processor at a major mid-west bank.

Very nice bills, not sure if they were burned though, looks more like they were in dry storage and a rodent had some dinner with them.

I'd guess chemical damage of some sort resulting in an extreme case of "foxing". The paper then eventually deteriorated to the point of breaking away from the rest of the note.

At least they are still valued at one dollar each!

Your job puts you in a great position to actually collect from "circulation" and I think that's a cool idea. However, for me, these notes are beyond the point of no return.
