Hello folks. After several youtube videos and other research I hope I did better with this coin than my previous one. Seller is asking $101 right now, but I think I can beat him down a bit on that front.

XF 40 is my assessment, but let me know what you guys think. All feedback is appreciated.

I would say VF-30. My only concern is the coin's surfaces. Something looks off, as in light environmental damage or a cleaning and retoning job.

Maybe it's the closeup of the pics, just my opinion.

Somebody with more knowledge than me I am sure will chime in.

non original surfaces. Possibly a wizz and retone, maybe corrosion removed...

VF Details. Looks like corrosion that has been removed. Color is off and too consistent, looks like it's been coated in something.

Very grainy surface on this one. I feel you would benefit from buying a graded IHC. At minimum, look at a number of high quality images in the grade range.

Let me add that I started this hobby the same way. It took me a while to get a good eye for original surfaces, sometimes very difficult.

I like how you are asking before buying. Smart way to go while learning.

VF-30 sharpness but these are almost certainly not original surfaces, I agree. Pass.

Here is a coin that is about the same price and looks more original. Pretty sharp details and would grade High VF or low XF.

Yes, that's a much nicer coin Red has shown you. Don't be afraid to message the seller and offer him 85 bucks, probably take it.

@52Raymo That was my plan anyway, I always haggle a bit.

This whole thing has been very enlightening for me, I think I'm getting there slowly but surely.

Awesome! Glad we could help. I really liked the look of the one I posted. For being circulated, it was a very clean looking coin free of any major marks.

You will be much happier with this one for your collection.

Again, glad to see you ask questions before you buy! Ask away when you are thinking about the next consideration.
