I bought this because the inscription on the reverse intrigued me.
It was sold as "HAMMERED MEDIEVAL COIN Crusades c.1200s"
but so far searching through various sites (over 700 crusader coins on acsearch) I've not been able to find ANY close to a match with this.

The obv (or is it the rev?) might be the Tower of David, twice, quartered with another symbol, a crusader symbol.
Or the Akrokorinthos...

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a more precise ID?

Weight 0.9 grams
Diameter 17mm

Somewhat unconfidently I read, in the last four lines of the last pic, REX [C]AS/[T]ELIE E/T LEGIO/NI "king of Castile and Leon". Presumably the previous line(s) would give the name of the king, which I can't read at the moment.
I can't help any further but this should provide a direction to look into.

EDIT: Checking Numista, this is probably a billon dinero of Alfonso X, minted for the 1st Granada war (1264-68), cf. Numista 34670. Apparently I misread and/or missed a few of the letters.
(Numista has a bunch of very similar variations and I don't know what to look for to distinguish them, but the attribution I gave is common for all of them.)

So indeed 1200s and I guess technically Crusades (in terms of "Christians attempting to take land back from Muslims"), but that description was extremely misleading!

[EDIT 2: I see that in the meantime others showed up with the same attribution.]

Generally speaking, this kind of wording should be ignored. Recently we saw a 16th century coin with a cross that was advertised the same way. It is a "come on" widely used on ebay and other platforms.

You could not find this coin the way you are searching because you were expecting that the seller was representing the coin as one that was MADE in the "Crusader States," which were Middle-eastern states that came to be ruled by western nobles in the wake of the Crusades. But sellers who advertise coins this way are often selling ANY coin with a cross that looks old.

As it turns out, this particular seller wasn't being unscrupulous. The coin is indeed, hammered, and it is from the 1200s (medieval). If it's the coin linked by @JohnC, it's not related to what is normally thought of as "The Crusades," but is also not as far off as many others.

I've personally bought a 16th century coin with a cross that was advertised as "Crusader". I should probably post it here at some point, it's a neat coin.

The combined expertise of this site never ceases to amaze me. I wasn't too bothered about whether or not it was 'crusader' coin (after having my finger burnt before, I'm becoming sceptical of 'popular' descriptions like that) - it was the inscription which intrigued me, and what it meant. What I'm enjoying about the few small purchases I'm making is that each gives me an opportunity to research a new aspect of more ancient history (I'm a 19th/20th century European historian) which otherwise I'd know nothing about. So thank you all - now I've another window into a different era and national story which I've previously been ignorant of.
