Hi I'm new to this site and have had a coin in my possession for some time. I cant seam to get any information on it online or other wise. All I know is that it is a 5 forint and they only made them in silver but mine is gold. Can any one please help with information would greatly appreciate it. Its a 5 forint dated 1947 on the back and has 1802-1894 on the front also says Kossuth.

5 forint 1947 Kossuth (it would be considered Hungarian Republic, not Austria-Hungary) - I've heard of proof restrikes in silver, but in gold?

It might be plated. Pictures would surely help.

to the Forum,

Can you post a picture of the coin? The only 5 Forint issued in 1947 from Hungary is KM# 534a, issued in silver only. It could be that the previous owner may have had it as a lucky piece and had it gold plated.

You can make it ten times that size. Up to about 90kb.

I have one of these in silver. It was only released in silver so I would concur that someone must have plated it at some point.
