Left it is 1964 and Right it is 1972. If we compare your coin with those we come to the conclusion that your coin it is an legitimate design of 1972D. The best way to look for it is the word QUARTER.

Been an clad, properly is name de-lamination, which could happened during the strike, like also after.

for explanation: LAMINATION it is the process of the union of two different materials by different processes(ex press, glue, electro, etc.) DE-LAMINATIOS it is the separation of the two materials resulted from processes of Lamination.

Regarding the markers you talk about, please can you put focus on that parts?

To answer : NO You look far behind. Is no way to be use a die from 1964 silver coins in 1972. the dies are destroyed second month of the following year. The masters do not has those marks. It is just an optical illusion to you.

Your coin fit perfectly the 1972. An hint?: OK = The eagle is smaller then the strike in 1964.

except behind the scull where I presume it is a small crack, not big premium, your coins do not has nothing out of common.

Your de-lamination, in order to be confirm it is genuine, must be certified by a lab. specialize on those type of de-laminations. Yours it is the fourth I see I one week. The other three was simulated de-lamination. OH, all has same location and approx. same form and dimension.

You take your own conclusions and please do not try to make us see what we do not see. Thanks.
