just arrived from the bay. I have never seen the uneven cut as I do on the left hand side of the obverse. It feels real, I think. These are my first ever currency purchases. I have no idea what's what here. any help appreciated. Its a huge ebay seller who is auctioning dozens of these at any given time.

It looks genuine to me. I have a bunch of 53 and 63 series $2 red seals, some have nice even borders and some are off slightly. yours a little more than normal, but genuine.

It appears to be a genuine 1953A $2 United States Note with poor centering. Poorly centered notes with skinny or fat margins are not uncommon for this series. I'm guessing you saw photos of the note before you bought it. Some novice collectors are often tempted to trim the fat margins to "even out" the note. Don't do it. Leave it be the way it is.

Thanks fellas! I feel reassured. I also located a fair number of off center '53s on current and past ebay sales at this point.
