I see they explain the difference in a regular vs. mule is the shield is larger in the mule. Is this shield normal?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it to me.
Compare the scans below to your coin, the most obvious POI is the date and width of the shield.

I was thinking the date had a lot to do with it and mine is definitely larger. That is very unfortunate thank you for validating what I thought

the wing tips also go past the lettering on the mule.
