I've done a search on this topic and only saw individuals talking about the usb microscope they bought. Can we have a discussion under one thread about extensive experiences and what magnification to use and the most useful/convenient model? What you liked and didn't like? I'm looking into finally buying one. Thanx.

As to magnification, as low as possible and not higher than 150x, example 5x-150x. AmScope is a good brand.

Most if not all of them have plastic lens in them. If you could find one with a glass lens it would be better. IMOHO

Glass lens. Seems to me a magnification greater than 40x is unnecessary?

I don't know why a Mod moved this topic to photography, its not directly related to photography. I'm looking for error coins and that's what these microscopes are used for, Right?
Plus my vision is not what it used to be. OK?

I've had several, but I've found their limitations mainly due to the poor control software. I bought a Celestion 5MP, and did some extensive modifications, but ultimately the software kept me from being successful with it, mainly due to inability to white balance. Without white balance capability, the shots are not true color.

So, perhaps it would be good to hear from folks' experience with the control software? Which scopes have software that allows white balancing? How about good control of exposure parameters?
