I found a 1983 penny with Florida stamped on it. Can you tell me more about it? Does it have value? It's mint.

. Not an error,it is a counter stamped coin. Value 1¢ unless you collect them.

These state counterstamps bring little premium if any. Very common.

The are added to the coin. People created these to sell the the rubes that buy odd stuff. No premium, to a collector it is a damaged coin. People have been damaging coins for years.

Do a search in the upper left hand corner of every page here on CCF, search on "counterstamp" and see all the many examples CCF members have shared, some are amazing! Some people collect these, to others it's just damage (to each their own).
