When buying mint state copper coins I prefer red-brown over full red because, to me, a deeper tone which the browning of age brings seems to intensify and bring out the design elements better than a full red. More specifically those closer to red spectrum. Any thoughts to this?

I tend to agree with you . Not only that but I feel you can detect less chatter and minute tics . I love brown and RB Uncs .

Most copper collectors still pay strong prices for RD coins.

I'm also in agreement. I prefer a BN or RB over RD a majority of the time. There are always exceptions though (usually in the case of moderns). It is very much preference, but I do think it adds a depth to the design. I also just prefer the color appearance. . . I just like it! Also, a big factor for me is "what is this RD going to look like in 5,10,20 years down the road"? Will it darken unattractively? An already BN or RB example does tend to hide slight imperfections better.

I have no strong preference for either. I like and collect both.

Makes little difference since they will soon not be made.
