DDD on Liberty?
I have read every book I could find on how to grade coins and Lincoln cents in particular (which means nothing). Please help correct me. My thought process all along was that minor mistakes from the mint were not taken into account when grading a coin?. Strike must be strong for the date and mintmark. Coin may have 3 or four minor contact marks and one more noticeable but not detracting mark. Coin must have exceptional eye appeal and lustrous original color. I say these things only to get some feedback from members. Please I wasn't trying to give you a grading lesson, if anything I want a grading lesson. If a coin comes straight from a OBW roll and has that fresh copper color, is that not original and lustrous (not said to be sarcastic). What do others consider lustrous? What's a minor mark or distractable mark (the filled 9 is very distracting to me). Not all rolls look the same. Just because it is original doesn't automatically make it have exceptional eye appeal, I get that. My pictures are magnified 30 up to fifty times and show the technical errors of the coin. Serious question here. Must a coin have some color slightly out the ordinary to grab your attention. Help me on this. I have tried to look up this info dozens of times and can't quite put this question to rest.
