Requesting VAM Assistance With A 1922-P Peace Dollar

Adam_E Pillar of the Community United States 4846 Posts	Posted 01/22/2022 10:55 am Hi all! This Peace dollar is a recent acquisition of mine. When I originally got it I thought the orange peel was from a heavy overdip. Looking at the VAM it appears this could be from a rusted obverse die. I believe I've narrowed it down to VAM 2AB1 http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...P_VAM-2AB1), but a later die state than the plate coin because my coin has a die crack going across the E in LIBERTY that isn't present. The die markers appear to all be there, but the mark above the E is difficult to spot because of an unfortunate milk spot. I've taken pictures in the same locations as the plate coin pictures so you can compare. Thank you all for the help! Report this Post to the Staff

livingwater Pillar of the Community United States 2221 Posts	Posted 01/23/2022 09:43 am Nice find! I like clashed Morgan/Peace dollars. For diehard VAM collectors they can be worth more. But usually VAMS that carry high premiums are in a list like Top 100, Elite Clashed Morgans, Hot 50 etc. and are in high grade.
