i have found nickels, (mostly 70's), with the "D" mink mark literally completely filled in in the center. whereas it does not seem to be rare, is this something to watch for, or is it just a "catch and release"? attached is an image with two examples.

thanks

When I first started roll searching I found a lot of those also. Now I just throw them back because they seem so common. But don't do it just cause I do, I may be giving away a small fortune. Thanks for asking this question. Lets see what the others have to say about this.

From 1971 to 1976 there were some very nice looking nickels and you can find some full step nickels in those years. As for value I don't keep them I just put them back in circulation. I Just pick out a few of the best examples of each year and take the rest back to the bank.

It's quite common to find the "D" filled on Jeffersons.
