I have a 1877 S U.S. minted dime that looks like when it was struck there was a foreign object that left an impression on the obverse side over half the length of the dime. The impression shape is true and straight like a pin. The coin has been in storage for many many years.

The coin other then the impression is in fine condition.

My question is, does anyone know if there are other 1877 S dimes with the same type of impression or mark?

Thanks, Saved by Grace

Could be the coin was struck thru wire or similar debris. A picture would help so,

That is post mint damage. It looks as if someone cut it with a saw.

Here is another pic. The coin has been in storage for over 40 years. The impression gets narrower towards the center of the coin so I am not so sure about a saw. It could be post mint damage but there are 2 ridges down inside the impression like the object was pressed on.
