The W cent came in a little baggy separate from the set itself. If the shipping box is sealed, it should be in there. If only the box holding the set itself is sealed, then the W cent is likely elsewhere.

yes. bzookaj is correct. the mint set was in a brown cardboard pack, and there was a plastic bag for the cent, and a envelope for the cent inside the outside mailing box as separate items. if you bought 3 sets, in the mailing box there were 3 brown mint set boxes, 3 envelopes, and 3 W cent baggies. the link provided doesn't really bring me to anything as an example, so, like this one link, it clearly has the cent and envelope in the listing and pictures, the mint set is sealed, all OGP looks intact. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224789296177?LH_BIN=1this one, more than likely unopened mailing package, and includes the cent also, still in the mint shipping packaging, and likely to be OGP and unsearched/checked... https://www.ebay.com/itm/373778222043?LH_BIN=1a listing like this likely would NOT include the W cent. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393909373170?LH_BIN=1Some of them are very clear there is no W cent or that there is one included, others keep it vague and say "20 coins", that's the fault of the listing person for not being crystal clear, and it's likely intentional.

I think I got it. Lesson is, if buying one of these make sure it says W cent included.
Thanks

I seem to remember that the W was an add on to the proof set, not "part of". A lot of the Ws were not very good quality and the mint would not replace them.

Quote: Lesson is, if buying one of these make sure it says W cent included. A smart seller would know to sell them separately for more money. Also, many bought the sets just for the W cent and end up discarding the set via sale. Quote: A lot of the Ws were not very good quality and the mint would not replace them. I believe they were just regular business strikes, not using the same care or process (slow speed and higher strike pressure) used with the uncirculated mint set coins.

Just jumping in this thread here as I have a couple questions. I have been out of collecting for the past 10 years and getting caught up. I bought my missing mint sets from 2009 to 2021 in mint packaging on ebay. I only collect business strike coins. I know the 2009 and 2010 business strike coins are missing from the sets as they are satin coins. So, from this thread I gather I am missing the 2019 business strike W cent as it didn't come with the set I bought. Are there any other business strike coins I am missing from 2011-2020?

Quote: jbuck, there were 3. Proof, reverse proof, and business strike I was speaking directly to the ones included with the uncirculated mint set as mentioned by the OP. The proof sets included a proof W cent, while the silver proof sets included the reverse proof W cent.

@captainkurt. they cancelled the business strike W nickel in 2020, so you don't have to worry about that one. you'd be missing the circulation finish coins of 2009 and 2010 only to get to complete on business strikes. The 2019 W business strike cent was NIFC and wasn't technically made for circulation. Also though, it depends on how far you want to go with it. there are the 2012-2021 S mintmark ATB Quarters, circulation finish. The mint sold directly in rolls and bags on the website. 46 coins like that. It didn't start at the beginning of the National parks series, it started two years into it, first done to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the San Fran mint and then they carried it on until the end of the park series of quarters. I'd say if you skipped the S mintmark circulation strike quarters, then you could skip the W cent also. they are fluff and not meant to actually circulate. One thing you will be missing for sure though if you are a stickler for "circulation strike", that actually circulated, the 2019 and 2020 W mintmark quarters. Those were meant to circulate, and could only be gotten from circulation. the mint didn't put them in sets, and didn't sell them directly. they mixed each of the designs into the monster bags at the mint and they got put in rolls of Ps and Ds and sent out to banks. 2 million Ws each of the 5 2019 designs, and 2 million Ws each with a V75 privy mark of the 5 designs for 2020, to celebrate 75 years since the end of WW2. Obverse of a 2019 W top, 2020 W obverse bottom.
