1917? Very worn wheatback. It has the correct angled curve, wondering if it was possibly an incomplete curved clip? Thoughts?

I am more inclined to think vise job... How about a good picture of the reverse?

Yes, you can see warping on the reverse opposite where the impression is on the obverse. Vise job.
