When I posted the 2021 update to my "By the Numbers" series, vonigohcr wondered if I should expand the list to include Canada's circulating commemorative SDs. I responded by indicating that I track them separately, and would post my census sheet for them soon. Unfortunately, it slipped my mind, and I didn't think about it again until recently as I prepared my 2022 update.

So, to make sure I didn't forget again, I pulled out my tracking sheet, clarified a couple of notes I include on it, and present it here.

One important general note about this census list: my collection consists only of versions (i.e., finishes) of the SDs that were either standard circulation strikes or included in a set sold to the public by the Mint. Some will debate this criteria as it is not all-inclusive, but it is the way that I approached assembling my set.

So, if a particular SD was purposely released to the general public, it's included. If it was part of a VIP Presentation Set or some other limited-run custom set, I don't include it. I also don't include the scarce/rare early circulation SDs that today are designated as Specimen or Proof-Like (e.g., the 1949 Specimen SD). Yes, such coins are out there (and can look spectacular!) but the R C M did not directly sell Specimen finish SDs to the general public in 1949 (or before) and so are excluded from my census.
