1948 Washington Scratch = Details Grade?

Will release it and post better pictures if I get more comfortable with your feedback. Scratches on the obverse are on the holder but the one one the right field to the rim is on the coin. I didn't pay much for this so I'll probably keep it but do you think that the scratch will effect the value much? It really doesn't matter for this coin as I only paid $8 but I want to know for future reference on much more expensive Washingtons. For instance a scratch like this will cause a details grade or just a scratch mention on a holder? Is there an average discount percentage on a scratch like this or a details graded coin? All subjective I know but any info is appreciated! How do you work these factor in you head when grading and valuing MS coins? Report this Post to the Staff

I've seen people treat such a coin as if it were graded a full category lower (so MS becomes AU, AU becomes XF, etc.). Report this Post to the Staff
