The Bank of Canada had a paper out a couple years ago about doing this & haven't since heard where it was headed. I find it worrisome that the author keeps making comparisons to how its done in China. The one drawback mentioned is lack of "privacy." I always find it alarming how little people think about this! Most people seem satisfied so long as they have earned their points & get their credit card cash-back rewards.
