I'm fairly new to cent roll searching, but for the three weeks I've been doing it, I've noticed something odd. I'm not finding a lot of Denver mint coins from the 70s & 80s, especially any still brilliant or with mint luster. San Francisco coins are even worse-very few. I'm in south Florida and wonder if anyone out west is experiencing the same thing with Philadelphia coins ? Or is this just a function of numbers minted? An inquiring mind wants to know.

I've noticed out here in California, I don't find P's. I would love to find some Wide AM's.

Some S's. Usually the lower 70's. 74-S, 75-S etc. A wheat once in a while. I have to get back to the bank.

It used to be here that up to 1/3 the cents were "S" coins, although that's changed with people hoarding copper.
Almost 1 wheat every other roll too. Like Vermontensium, P cents are a rarity in more recent years, and wide AMs an impossibility.
Still with the thousands of 70-S cents I've checked, I have yet to find a small-date in circulation.

Yes, coins generally have a geographical distribution. Currently, you will tend to find newly minted Ps in Federal Reserve districts east of the Mississippi and Ds west of the Mississippi. Once they are released into commerce they tend to stay in the same area but obviously there is some level diffusion.
