My Canadian Coin news has several varieties of large cents that my Charlton Standard Catalogue does not have. Is there a better book for canadian varieties?

If you are looking for a single comprehensive book with images, there is no such product at present. What is available is books published by Zoell, Charlton, Charest and others. There are also websites and discussion boards with images. But if you are okay with just listings, then you may want to consider the book I have put together. A basic edition of this guide is listed on ebay:

There are no images in this guide, just listings. There is presently about 300 different large cents identified in this book from 1858 to 1920. To produce a well illustrated guide for just these coins would be more than a big job. That's probably why no one has put one together so far.

olmanjon, I have only a very few large cents, and my attention was drawn by your question. I have the book by this member, called "Basics". It deals with small cents, but It gives one the info that just is NOT found anywhere else! I recommend , ( based on the book I have), as a good investment, and may get the one for the large cents, too. Especially, if I come onto a lot of the large ones.

It just occured to me: If one had the "book, with the listings< it would onlt require one good picture, and Photoshop, (or other of your choice) to make an edited copy, for your own use, with EVERY variety marked, in the apprioate position. That would be the next best thing, to having the actual illustrations. IMHO.
