Hi All.

I set this coin aside awhile ago and then read an article on the Rockwell Test Mark. Sent the coin to EJ Scott and he was kind enough to examine the coin and prepare an Accurate View Video and made some nice pics. Gratis! So nice :) I tried to load the link to the video but it does not work properly. Close up is my pic.

Here is the link to the Accurate View Video. Not sure if it will work!

I contacted PCGS and they have indicated they are willing to examine the coin and I should submit under Mint Errors / Special Issues. I am curious as to the response and so willing to spend the money to see the result. Perhaps foolish but fun nonetheless!

1. so what did EJ SCOTT say about the coin?

2. dont send it to PCGS. looks like post damage and at best a strike through(nothing dramatic or worth sending in).

imo it is PMD.

EJ thought that the indentation was on the planchet prior to being struck. I am going to send it regardless....never sent a coin off to a TPG and it will be interesting.

Use the search box upper left of page. We get this question a few times every year. Yours is not a Rockwell test mark.

It doesn't look like one at all. The edges are all ragged, Rockwell test marks have smooth circular or oval edges. See if you can find a certified one with ragged edges. I can't.

If you read the article there was an update, those are no longer considered to be valid..Update 5/7/20.

Ok, forget I posted that one and look at the other one. Also try to find an authenticated one with a ragged edge like that.
