Hi,

Wondering what you think the grade is and if its worth sending away?(If I send to ICCS, I'll come back to this post and let you know the results).Pictures taken with Nikon D810 & Macro lens then optimized.

Although folks on here gladly respond to people who post coins to get an opinion, you have a laundry list of them. I would suggest that you go to a few of the sites that take you step-by-step on how to grade yourself. You, personally, need to have an idea of what you have. As a general rule, unless you can actually SELL a coin for $100-150, it's not worth it to send it in to be graded. I didn't look at ALL of your examples, but I would say that the ones that I looked at are definitely not worth sending in.

I think for ICCS grading if it's worth 100$ roughly and you plan on selling grading wouldn't hurt that much. This is another one I have never tried grading, EF details I think. These are tough though. The main difference iv seen from EF-MS is that the tiny jewels on the lowest crown band need to be at least a little visible. I'll have to work on grading these more.

Sorry but I'm weary this could be a Chinese fake.

1. The mint mark is unfinished and I can see no other examples like it.
2. Also, much of the inner border edging around the obverse is missing.
3. Finally, its in suspiciously pristine condition for a coin that looks so dirty and played with hard.

Other folks might be able to verify but it looks suspect to me.

There is fakes out ther for these? If so I should definitely check the few I have. I got 3 in better shape then this 41'42 and 45 I think. I paid 10$ for the lot.

Edit is there tell tale signs for the fakes? I have some bad pictures of the three and a half decent close up of the 45 but wouldn't know what to look for being a fake.

Wow great eye TheDeductible! I'm not overly familiar with these either but I would have to agree with all those observations... something seems off.

Coin is not a counterfeit .
The obverse die is deteriorating
and is somewhat weakly struck
thus the appearance . Incomplete
Mushy dentils are quite common
from the 1939 1945 period .
Just look at 1939 Silver Dollars , full dentils
are extremely difficult to find ..
Dies were used up until just about unusable as steel was
In short supply due to the War effort.
As to the incomplete C mint mark , again a common occurrence
on NF coins of the period .
This piece is hardly worthy of submission , You can
acquire these in quantity for 3 to 5 Dollars each in VF to AU condition .

Is there known fakes for the 5 cent in the 40s? I would have assumed with the value if then even in mint state they wouldn't be counterfeited.

I saw a fake 194x NL 5 cent coin in hand at East Coast Coins several years ago. They are out there and I'm not convinced this one is genuine.

I worked in Newfoundland for some time. I use to drive from New Brunswick at least once a month and stopped at yard sales often, etc... I doubt this is a fake, maybe I'll send this one away just to get results from ICCS for the forum.I believe (but not sure) that this was one of 50 or so Newfoundland coins that were in a larger lot I bought out of someones garage near St. Johns, Newfoundland. The guy had a lot of nice coins I didn't buy. I tried to get lucky with the ones he hadn't looked at yet in his hoarding garage. He looked in the bag while saying "I want to make sure there aren't any Newfoundland coins in there". He definitely had a lot of hoarded junk in his garage, very unorganized except for the coins inside his house.
