Looking through some pocket change, I find this 1981 D penny. I had several pennies, all side by side, but this MM really stuck our. Was wondering if anyone sees anything out of the norm?

Given the images posted, it appears to be a nice, strong mint mark--nothing immediately out of the ordinary.

Thanks, didn't really think there was anything there, but had it next to an '87 D penny, where you could see a big difference! The 87 was much thinner and didn't seem to have those lil 'tails' at top and bottom of the D

You can't compare different years to each other.
The die punches change periodically and sometimes in the same year.

I see a messed up face. A big gap between nose and check.

Well, after noticing the difference, I found 3 other '81 D's and was still distinguishable. I literally have hundreds of pennies scattered about the countertop in NY shop
