I have had this coin for years but never checked it out. It is not attracted to a magnet. Any thoughts?

Ask nicely at your local postal outlet and they'll probably weigh it for you.
If we have a weight to two decimal places we can start to narrow down the possibilities for you.

Were you using a strong or evryday weak magnet? It should be nickel and there should be mild attraction to a magnet.

Iv always checked if a coin is magnetic using fridge magnets lol, if it's non magnetic for sure then it would have to be an off planchet error as I don't think there were silver proof quarters back then. Weight is definitely helpful either way for trying to figure out the possible planchet it was struck on.

Looks like the fit is not right for the coin. Smaller planchet

Grandpapa-
Place your coin over a regular quarter. To me it looks like it is smaller
and missing part of the rims.

Would be good to get a photo of it on edge next to another quarter.

According to the scales at the local pawn shop, this coin weighs 4.1 grams.

The RCM in 1984 struck stainless steel, 50 Poisha coins for Bangladesh, now you need an XRF to confirm the coins composition, weight is perfect for this foreign strike

Looking at the rim and the light weight I'll say it's just ground down.

Cheers, Bill

The poster did mention non magnetic, so a 1984 would be all nickel

Agree it looks ground down, but the look of the planchet is wrong for a Canadian coin. So I will bet on a legit foreign planchet.
