Can anyone help with a positive attribution of this Lucius Verus coin? All the coins with SC within the wreath reverse that I've found, have Lucius Verus facing right on the obverse. The reference - McAlee (Lucius Verus) 8, has not helped.

The ANS lists an Antioch bronze of Lucius Verus, with left-facing bust and SC in wreath reverse. Sadly, there is no photo provided. The citation given is Lindgren III, 1163.

RPC IV.3 7150 appears to match. Unfortunately there's no pictures there either.

Thank you very much, Bob and january1may.

I thought I had done a pretty comprehensive search, but didn't see either of the two pages. Having the Lindgren III number, I looked in the book and it is the same coin without a doubt. Everything matches, and the control mark under the SC, as on the "rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk" page, is indeed the letter Α (Α shaped as Λ). The coin is now attributed with confidence.

The images in the book are not very clear, but clear enough, and parts of page 66 and plate 66 are shown below.

It's nice to hear someone mention Henry Lindgren. I bought about 50 coins from Henry's lists and plate coins from his books. I called Henry several times looking for a specific coin. Some of Henry's collection was sold by Frank Kovacs, I bought some coins from Frank also. I enjoyed visiting with Henry on the phone. Henry died in 2005.

Just a thought, but these coins would make a very interesting thread.

Update on the Lucius Verus coin.

I submitted the images of the coin to the RPC Database and it does appear to be a match for RPC IV.3 7150. Now there are four known.

Thanks guys.
