Pic is not good enough to grade. Anything could be hiding under that tone.

Agree, more light on the surfaces would help.

It's either too much lighting or not enough

Alright folks, in order to show you what the surfaces look like in hand there is some light exposure but you get the gist of it.

I just can't get a good feel for it from the photos. The reverse looks PL and really stunning. Seems to be broken lustre on the obverse and some hits. I'm going to say they graded it MS63.

This seems like one of those coins you need to see in hand. The reverse looks possibly PL, obverse not as much. If the luster is there in-hand, I will say MS-64*.

the 96(P) are almost always sharp and bold. this one falls into the lower end of that but acceptable without deductions for the year. a couple minor rim hits but enough to affect anything. luster is always tough to assess with toned coins and even more with blotchy toning. some kind of scuff right side obverse. not sure what its from but could be a reeding strike. overall surface preservation is pretty good. eye appeal AVG-
overall the coin looks like it could make MS64 but I have to ding it for eye appeal (my call) and the scuff which is pretty obvious. MS63+

Now we have too much light on the surfaces!

Great reverse, which would be MS66PL on a bad day, and not-so-great obverse which is fairly MS62.
So assuming the surfaces are as they appear here, MS63+. Insufficient mirror on obverse for PL, although there is plenty on the reverse.

Quote: Now we have too much light on the surfaces! What Coinfrog is trying to say is crack the coin, send it to PCGS so we can get Trueview pics. We all know the ONLY real accurate way to judge the coin (Coinfrogs preferred method of images) is via Trueview pics. I'll be awaiting my CF.

What is this blob on the right obverse field? I say MS62, tentatively.
