https://www.ebay.ca/itm/313901215562Please check the bid which will end soon. I highly suspect this are fake coins. Mainly by : 1, the detail in the reverse side is not clear, which can not be explained by bad photo quality 2, the reputation of the seller is bad, there are multiple complains about this seller sells fake coins. What do you think?

@zhuyuecai: I checked via your link. The "coins" in question do not look like proof coins (as they should) and lack the detail I'd expect to see on a genuine coin. Also, the capsule for each piece does not appear to match Mint capsules.
In the Item Description, the seller states: "Untested -so please bid accordingly." He/She appears to be covering in case the buyer has a problem with what is received.
The bidding history on the lot also appears to be strange.
Too many red flags for me. I would stay away.

I would suggest fake. This is a proof coin and consistent with proof mintages the obverse has the Queen and coin rim heavily frosted while the field is clear. It is a stark difference that is not shown in the pictures. There is also a line (dimple) through the "S" on the reverse that does not exist in my legit copy.
I have seen auctions of this coin before that are forgeries. I saw one with a bunch of silver $20 coins and it was the same diameter as the silver coins. The actual $100 coin is 27mm diameter, the $20 silvers are 38mm.. that is a difference you can't fudge around. There is no detail on the description and I think the line "Untested -so please bid accordingly" is code for forgery.
Finally, with 2 coins adding up to 1/2 oz of 14K gold, there is no way that this sells or is even listed for $810 if legit... Bullion value as of today is $1200+ CAD.

Hi @commems, thanks for your advise. Yes, this is what I thought and I add it to watch list just to see how it goes.

Hi @vonigohcr, agreed. If it was real gold, and the story is true, the seller should just sell the coins to a dealer, he could get much more than put it in auction in ebay.

Check the seller's sold items. They have been selling quite a few counterfeit coins.

The bid approaching crazy now. The current bid is at $1200 !!. If the bidder is another account of the seller, he will need to pay 17% of the total to ebay for nothing. Otherwise, it create bad records in the bidding account. If the bidder is a real person. I can't imaging how he feels after receiving the coins and realize that he pay thousands for two common metal coins.

Hi @nickelsguy, It's hard to say whether the fake coins in this post is made by Chinese. But I am sure, it's a Chinese or Taiwanese brings the issue to the forum and help get rid of it.

Hi @nickelsguy, thanks for the info, did find a lot replicas there. Is there a solid way to distinguish circulated coin replica vs. real one. They make fake coins for key dates, and looks really real, which is terrifying.

Most counterfeit examples of that effigy are MISSING the three lines (crows feet) behind Queens eye.
