Certainly gonna show my age here....but does anyone else remember getting a new single penny in pliofilm in bags of potato chips way back in the early 1960s? Just wondering what year that was and what the occasion was for that promotion. I tried googling it and could not find anything about it. But I remember as a kids being excited about getting the penny because I could get 5 black balls with that penny lol.

I do remember getting 50 Cent pieces in the mail to complete a radio survey back in the day....must have been the 70's or early 80's because it was nickel by then.

I'm pretty sure it was Hawkins potato chips, in about 1963, you could even get a dime if you were lucky.
I think it ended when they quit making chips to concentrate solely on Cheezies.

I have one, still sealed in the plastic (came from you, I think Mike). It was called a "pip for a chip". A 1964 cent I think.

I'll post a photo later (if I remember).

Ha, yes I remember those, and I remember the black balls too.
I also remember collecting box tops ( or something like that) and sending away for a silver dollar, '64 as well I think.
