Can anyone read this date? I've wiped, magnified it with a flash light and cannot read it.

By showing the reverse, it can eliminate some of the numbers.

Upon reading this, it seems impossible with the 3rd digit being illegible. I have used process of elimination in my head based on my knowledge of mintmarks and fonts on cents to deduce a date. It is not a 1986-D, as the lettering was thinner with lower relief by that point. 1976-D is also uncertain in my view, as the letters became larger and slightly thinner by this point. 1966 is impossible as no mintmarks were struck that year. 1936 had a much different font. There was a much larger 6 on the 1946-D cents, so I am going with a 1956-D. In addition, you can see a faint marking of what appears to be a '5' below the great damage on that third digit.

Also is this worth something? Or something I should keep, I'm not a coin collector by any means, it's very interesting could maybe be a hobby, wondering if maybe it would be more or value or importance to someone else? It's been 2ys since she passed, the stuff just sits her in a box, thought maybe time to go through it and see if it would get use with someone. Thanks so much
Rest in Peace
