This 6-coin series ran from 2003 through 2005 releasing 2 coins in 2003, 3 in 2004 and 1 in 2005. Issue price varied between $70 and $80.

All were 99.99% fine silver proof coins with a $20 face value (31.39g, 38mm diameter).

It appears that RCM management lacked focus and couldn't agree on what to use for this series: cameo, holograms, gold plating or decal... Well, it was a bit of everything. Even the case of issue wasn't consistent. Wooden of red leatherette clam style.

Personally, I preferred the least popular in terms of mintage (16,000s) versus the other 5 coins (30,000s) because this one didn't have any hologram. The Hopewell Rocks coin featured selective gold plating. Stan Witten was the designer and engraver of this coin:

However, as bad as they are to the naked eye, holograms are interesting when you scan them! The Icebergs coin was designed and engraved by the RCM staff.

Almost 20 years have passed, and we can still find these coins on ebay under issue price.

The other coins in the series are Niagara Falls, Rocky Mountain, Northen Lights and Diamonds.

is that a recent picture of the hologram coin? Just today I tried to get a picture of the 'Snowbirds' Hologram coin, and to my surprise, I couldn't get a decent pic no mater if I used the scanner or my 43 mega pixel phone cam or my Nikon. I was wondering if there is some depreciation of the hologram affect over time.

The scan was taken in 2008 (there is a subtle watermark on the rim). I can't confirm with my current scanner because I sold the coin years ago...

Back them I could get pretty stunning effects by tilting the coin a few degrees off on the platen.

I'm seeing the 2004 Hopewell Rocks going for as low as $50 CAN on ebay these days. The issue price was $69.95 back in the days. With inflation alone, this coin would normally cost $112 today. But... No wonder... with silver price at $5-7 US in 2003-2004 this coin was evidently overpriced.

Nice to be reminded of your outstanding images!

I picked up the 2007 Niagara Falls hologram coin from the Mint because I was curious to see how effective the hologram was on the coin. In hand, I found it to be quite reasonable, but preferred the Mint's 2003 Silver Maple Leaf Set. IMO, the coins of the SML set are stunning and I'm still glad I purchased one of the sets!
