I was helping a friend with her coins last week and was unable to identify this coin. Any ideas? Appears to be a high gold content, perhaps bullion, coin with legends in Arabic.

World coins are not my expertise but I would need measurements & weight to fully identify the coin but I am pretty sure it is a Republic Turkey Gold kurush, 1927/1336 coin.
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

I will get back to her for at least dimensions. For weight, she'll have to come here.

Thank you for the quick responses!

According to my friend's measurements (she's not used to doing this, hence reliability issues), 1.2 ounces and 34 mm. Sounds about like a 500 Kurush coin, rather than a 250. I suspect she needs to deal with either an auction house or an advanced dealer, rather than consider this a bullion piece.

YES.
First, help make sure she handles it as gently as possible. The, help her get it authenticated and graded with a third party grader like NGC or PCGS. The condition looks quite good.

This one sold four years ago for $3840 (not sure if Heritage includes the commission in what they report, but still well above bullion value): https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5218524

Tdziemia, Thank you! I will pass the word along and suspect she may go directly to Heritage, as they will often re-encapsulate a coin for an auction.
