I believe this is DDO-003. Picked this up for ten bucks. The R has notching on the lower left which is consistant with DDO-003. Thanks for looking and your opinion on if I am correct or not. The DDO's seem to be pretty close to each other for my eyes to try and discern.

Question: Is this a Silver proof? 001-003 are silver proofs.

Quote:

1973-S DDO-001 (Comments: Silver Proof)
Description: Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and date with light double on TY of LIBERTY.

1973-S DDO-002 (Comments: Silver Proof)
Description: Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and date.

1973-S DDO-003 (Comments: Silver Proof)
Description: Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and date with double on R of LIBERTY.

1973-S DDO-004 (Comments: CN Proof)
Description: Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, date, and LIBERTY.

1973-S DDO-005 (Comments: CN Proof)
Description: Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, date, and LIBERTY.

004 and 005 are clad proofs.

I'm not seeing an exact match yet so far. The on the V.V site help some, but not seeing what I need to see on this die differences. So check the type of planchet first to make that is correct, and see if this is the same as listed, or a new die? (Wexler had none listed for this year/mint)

Thanks coop! It is a proof, it is a brown box Ike still in the hard plastic rectangular case. I could not make an exact match either I chose the 003 because it seemed the closest with the notching on the R of Liberty so I was thinking maybe a different die state.

To be a match, all hub doubling must be the same as each die, including die markers. Proof coins are only 3K coin created per set of proof dies. 6K strikes with the dies at higher pressure. So the makers could run for all examples, or in the case of die wear, they can be fresh dies and aging dies, even with a limited number struck. Thus proof doubled dies are more expensive as a limited number are struck. But if the dies were from a doubled working hub, there would be a lot struck from different now Working hub issue when dies are created. So try to get the best images to send into the sites to see if they want to list them or not first, before sending them in to the sites for listing. They might know something about them if they are a common or rare. Start small and test the waters first to see how to proceed.

I think this one is 3sp-301 or aka FS-101 as listed under DIVa on the Ike Group.
