You ask the question, "what coins do you feel are overprice" and I would have to say that generally they are the ones that I still need to complete a series of coins that I'm working on.
I'll bet you have noticed the same thing. All the coins that you don't need seem cheap enough for the most part.

Here in OZ I think alot of coins are underpriced.
Gold coins in OZ I think are overpriced.
Commerative Euro coins are plain hard to find in OZ.

Obviously, this is a subjective question, but one way to look at is which coins have undergone a large price inrease which may represent a fad and/or is a result of promotional efforts. $3 gold pieces, and indian 2 1/2 and $5 gold all fit this pattern. some morgan date/mms in ms 65 may too, but don't tell Morgan Fred ;) Don

Personally, I think modern coins are WAY overpriced on ebay. Most of the classics and colonials, while going up in price, I still find to be worth the money. The certified very high-grade coins have always been overpriced in my opinion.

I agree with Susanlynn. Many of the modern coins are overpriced such as MS70 eagles and some commeratives that are graded at 69 and 70 grade.

I HEARD THAT! (Just ignore Don - he's had a bad hair day. However, I think the answer to DJ's original question is too complicated to answer except in vague generalities in which there may be many, many exceptions. I think each series needs to be analyzed separately from the others. For example, I'm making forays into Flying Eagle cents. There are a vast number of FEs available on ebay which are not only over-priced by sellers with expectations that are too high, there are in my estimation far too many listed which have been cleaned, whizzed (polished), dipped, etc. and, at the same time, very very few which have been certified and graded by top-tiered grading services. Since 90 percent of FEs listed on ebay are of indeterminate condition due to poor pictures of a small coin, I prefer to bid only on encapsulated Flying Eagles. Because of the scarcity of slabbed FEs, I'm paying way over "book" value and bidding hard against others who feel the same. In this respect, the FEs are over-priced, but I'm helping bring up the market value. This is just one example; the next series down, Indian Head cents may be just the opposite, but I haven't looked at them.
