Hi All,

In my collection I stumbled upon a small bronze which has similair looks as the early judea bronzes from the 1st century. However this one has a portret on it. I was wondering if someone happens to know this type? And if it is a judea piece or something entirely different?

Seleukid, from the Tyre mint, I believe. I think I can just make out the ΒΑΣ of ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ on the reverse.. Perhaps Antiochos IV Epiphanes. But I'm not certain. No time to hunt it down right now.

You are right bob. Bronze AE . Looking at mcsearch I find similair types.
Many thanks! Only 150 years wrong with my idea haha. Are there books you recommend for this period? Easy to read with pictures.

No doubt there are good books for all Seleukid issues, Vince, including - I believe - by Newell and Houghton and others. But I own none. I just dig around online for these issues.
