@dave700x, I have no information at all on the so-called "Midwest Gold Cache". However, the Rickey Collection was publicized many years ago when the notes were graded by PCGS. There is still a link on the PCGS website regarding that.
Steve, if I ever were to decide to get a note (or coin) with a well-known pedigree, something from the Eric P. Newman collection would definitely be on my radar!

Quote: As pedigrees go, I seem to recall that The Rickey Collection holds little esteem. I have a Rickey note and can tell you it has little esteem, although perhaps there are lovely notes elsewhere. I eventually did a rare upgrade actually to be rid of it.

I've seen umpty dozens of Rickey Collection pedigrees that are just bland notes hardly worth a second look. Not sure I've ever seen a Rickey Collection note of any real merit, but surely I'm wrong.

For some reason notes of the "DB Cooper" fame bring premiums even when in tiny shreds.

I think one should look at the note and not the collection or the grader. I buy notes but seems like some buy the slab. The notes Hokie showed are all beautiful as was the last $50 note by WheatBack. I would be happy with any of these.

Beautiful $50 Legal Tender, WheatBack!
As mentioned earlier, I hadn't paid any attention to the Rickey Collection attribution when I bought the note, as I was completely unfamiliar with it. It was only later I looked into it a bit. It seems to have been a significant collection of large-size currency, insured at $15 million dollars by the Lyn Knight auction firm prior to the auction in 2005. Interestingly, the notes were graded and certified by PCGS, but the holders were not sealed (!) for the lot viewing.
