Alright I honestly can't tell if I got good pictures. I feel like this was tough to take pictures of compared to a Morgan dollar. Any suggestions if the pictures aren't up to snuff?

Yeah the angle is wrong. You need to be directly above with the camera, and try light sources from different angles (I use a desk light from Amazon but most people use what are called jansco lights. Experiment with diffusing the light with tissue paper also which makes the light less harsh. At that angle I just can't grade it at all.

I agree looks cleaned / polished maybe au detail, which is most likely causing too much reflectivity and that is why its so hard to get a proper photo.
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

It's not that polished looking in person I'll have to mess around with the lights more tonight.

From these pics it appears to be AU. Possibly details if it has been polished. I couldn't get the video to play to show the cartwheel effect.

photos are poor. too poor to determine anything. way too much glare however looking past that the coin appears to have been heavily polished buts its hard to say using these.

do not use overhead lighting

Keep trying with the pics ... it takes some practice but it is very rewarding once you get them right. I'm sorry if our forum isn't the most encouraging place sometimes.

The simplest way to get reasonable results with lighting is to move your coin and camera outdoors on a nice day, to a brightly lit place that's not directly in the sun. You're much more likely to get usable pics, and the experience gained will help you with artificial lighting later.

Pics aside, you should be able to tell if the coin is polished. Natural luster on a (non-PL, non-cameo) Peace dollar is often just a tiny bit velvety, or milky. Polishing results in an unnaturally uniform, glaring surface (and vastly reduces the value of the coin). Polishing will also leave tell-tale micro-abrasions visible under a microscope.

your second set does not appear to be polished but they are a little out of focus. she looks MS but cannot say for sure as the surfaces are not focused enough. best guess without better photos maybe MS63 but now we dont have a good shot of the reverse

need to work on your photography. you gotta stay away from any overhead lighting.
