Hey community,
This 2022P Quarter has what appear to be die chips/gauges and light clashing or scratching throughout the obverse and reverse. Washingtons eye appears doubled to me. The clashing runs from the field into the nose causing a small blemish outside the nose in the field. The eye looks to be doubling of the eye and also looks like Washington is tearing up. The mouth area shows a small die/ gauge. The lock of hair towards the ponytail appears to have a die chip behind it that appears to be in line with the crack running from the nose, eye, ear and then through this lock of hair. On the reverse there is a die chips aside the second, third, fifth and sixth beam. There are also chips on the top left branches of the U, N, T, in UNITED, T in STATES and inside and between the O and U in ANGELOU. I'm not sure if this would qualify as a DDO or if it just has multiple die chips/gauges caused from the clashing running through devices on the obverse and reverse. Thanks for any info, comments or feedback from the community regarding this Quarter.

Everything on this coin too me looks normal. All your arrows are pointing to bag marks, stains, little scratches, maybe a die chip here or there. And die clashes are not in the devices, just on the fields.

@cujohn, thanks for the response. I'm aware that clashing is mostly affects the field. Clashing can still effect the devices which can cause issues within devices. The areas affecting the devices I'm referring to actually are towards the center area of the coin where they would appear on newer quarters. Bag marks on 2022 coins? There are no stains on this coin. It is in good condition tbh. I doubt you are accurate with your take of this quarter but thanks for your opinion.

Coins can get contact marks 1 second after being minted when they fall into the hopper. 10% of the new quarters I see come from new bags have water stains on them. And clashes don't have to be in the center of a coin, you might be thinking of doubled dies from the single squeeze method of making master dies.

@Cujohn, yes, I understand clashes mostly affect the field of coins. I wasn't referring to clashing in the areas towards the center other than possibly the nose area and the eye. My thought was because the nose and eye are shallow devices maybe they could have been affected by clashing. The areas towards the center is where I thought it could possibly be a doubled die. I'm not sure where on this coin you believe there is staining though? I need to work on clarifying my thoughts. I do understand the difference between clashing and doubled dies. What I sometimes have an issue with is clash marks and die cracks. I appreciate the info on how coins can be damaged directly at the mint. You would think the mint would have figured a way to prevent that from happening by 2022. Thanks for the response and information.
