I am curious as to why discussion of this oddity has ceased. Was a definitive opinion reached that I missed?
If not, it would be nice to hear further discussions regarding this coin from all of you in the know.
Being in a sealed mint package, I am curious to know, at what point after striking and packaging would a force as significant as evidenced between the E & R of AMERCA taken place?.
Also, please explain the CW rotation of the date and MM and how PMD might cause this to occur. Is that not a MM on the lapel of the bust?
Next, please explain the corresponding linear lines on opposing sides and the event on the rim.
Much similar to Tropicalbats 1962 D nickel highlighted in another thread that is soon to be published I am sure by Mike Diamond.
I am confused about the lack of interest here as no plausible explanation has yet been postulated.
I would be stoked if I found this. Yet there is little interest.
I hope you can get more answers GBiscuits.

Dowhat, whatever it was that caused the damage came from an angle from the top and pushed the bottom of the mm down. It's not in the lapel. The lapel is farther down. I still don't know what it is, but it had to happen after the minting, and before the sealing into the cellophane.

And if I didn't know better it looks like somebody tried to take cutters and cut it like a piece of wire just saying

Thanks everyone, it does sort of look like someone tried to cut it, super strange to be honest... Maybe it got caught in some piece of sorting machine after strike? who knows, but either way its a cool set to hang onto for conversation. And maybe a mystery for life...

Thanks everyone
